Marine Corps Values

Honor

Marines are held to the highest standards – ethically and morally.  Honor is what guides Marines to never lie, cheat or steal; to abide by an uncompromising code of integrity and do the right thing – regardless of the obstacles or personal cost. It also embodies trust and dependability – Marines act responsibly; they are accountable for their actions; and they fulfill their obligations. Their word is their bond.

Courage

Courage is not the absence of fear – it is the ability to face fear and overcome it. It is the mental, moral and physical strength that enables a Marine to do what is right; to adhere to a higher standard of personal conduct; and to make tough decisions under stress and pressure. It is the mental and moral strength to do what is right, with confidence and resolution even in the face of temptation or adversity.

Commitment

Commitment is the spirit of determination and dedication found in every Marine. It is perseverance in the face of adversity; loyalty to comrades and unselfish devotion to duty.  It is the ingredient that enables Marines to have the highest order of discipline and an unmatched standard of excellence in every endeavor.
